Una Noche de Bienestar

Last year, Bienestar held An Evening of Esperanza: Building Hope in the Immigrant Community with the incomparable Esperanza Spalding, an unforgettable evening for all who attended.

We learned that music has power; it brings together communities; it tells compelling stories, and it celebrates the immigrant contribution to our society while pointing toward the future.

Building on the tradition we started last year, Bienestar is thrilled to invite you to:

Una Noche de Bienestar, November 21st, 2019, Revolution Hall

Luz Elena MendozaOrquestra Pacifico Tropical San Cha

(Luz Elena) Mendoza is a warrior of light, resilience, and creative ingenuity. Born singing mariachis of Michoacan in Southern Oregon, her haunting yet calming bluegrass folk vocals are rooted in Mexican tradition. Mendoza’s voice resounds with a profound sense of history, her guitar strumming soft but with gripping presence.

From an article in the Portland Mercury by Emilly Prado (read the rest of the article)

Don’t miss San Cha, a singer-songwriter known for her explosive, visceral and emotional live performances. Her music is a take on traditional Mexican styles sung in Spanish and English.

At the end of the night, Orquestra Pacifico Tropical will bring the house down with electrifyingly infectious ’50s, ’60s & ’70s cumbias from Colombia to Peru.
