Equity Statement
Adopted by the Bienestar Board of Directors on April 6, 2020.

Bienestar’s mission is to build housing, hope and community for the wellbeing of Latinxs, immigrants, and all families in need. We recognize that families in need often face barriers and exclusion to affordable housing based on characteristics such as income, race, color, language, cultural heritage, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, and disability status.

In furtherance of serving families in need in confronting these barriers and exclusions, Bienestar commits in the conduct of its governance and affairs:

  • To acknowledge and appreciate the dignity and worth of all individuals and families;
  • To invite and engage in discourse on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion;
  • To develop within its own governance, operations, and affordable housing units, policies and a discipline that addresses diversity, equity, and inclusion; and
  • To promote and nurture an open and welcoming environment within its own workplace and at its affordable housing units.

Bienestar expects the support and participation of all its Board members, employees, individuals and families that it serves, contractors, and community members to keep these commitments central to their involvement with Bienestar and in serving families in need.
