Take Care of Yourself/Family: Physical and Emotional Health Resources

Cuida de ti mismo y de tus seres queridos. Take care of yourself and your loved ones.

We are in the middle of another COVID-19 surge, with hospitalizations rising and the state averaging over 1,000  cases per day. Effective Friday, August 13, all Oregonians ages 5 and older, regardless of vaccination status, must wear masks in all indoor public spaces.

After reopening celebrations and hopeful messages earlier in the summer, this wave of the pandemic may feel especially difficult.

It’s stressful, to say the least. It’s hard to plan when the future is uncertain and while it’s important to stay informed, that, too, can be overwhelming as news and guidance continues to change. You may feel worried, fearful and exhausted.

For everyone at Bienestar, there are physical and emotional health resources and people to talk to if you or a loved one needs help.

There are also many ways to cope at home, like breathing exercises. Try 7-8-Breathe, an anxiety-reducing technique from Dr. Ruth Zúñiga, a psychologist in Oregon and Director of Sabiduría: Latinx Psychology Emphasis. It’s amazing how breathing can help us calm down –  Watch in Spanish or Watch English
