Community members tour Bienestar properties

On Thursday, April 26, a bus full of influential community leaders left Hillsboro to tour affordable farmworker housing properties in Forest Grove. This group included local government officials, representatives from organizations like Oregon Food Bank, and other stakeholders. Executive Director Nathan Teske spoke about the importance of affordable housing, and a few residents and property managers added their input as well.

This bus tour was hosted by the Welcome Home Coalition in partnership with Bienestar, and even got some buzz in the local newspapers. Housing is one of the biggest issues facing Washington County, and Bienestar is planning to be part of the solution, exploring options to start new development projects.

A second tour took place on May 17th, drawing another large crowd. By popular demand, a third tour has been scheduled, this one for the mayor and other influential people in the Hillsboro government.
