Bienestar welcomes Nathan Teske as new Executive Director

The Board of Directors of Bienestar is pleased to announce the appointment of Nathan Teske to the position of Executive Director and welcomes him to Bienestar’s family.

Nathan is a seasoned and passionate bi-lingual nonprofit leader who brings an innovative approach to program and fund development. He has over 15 years of experience improving outcomes for immigrant and low-income communities. His experience ranges from fund development for complex commercial projects, to creating and managing new economic and social programs not found anywhere else in Oregon. His work included raising over $15 million in funds for various organizations, including $3 million in multi-source complex financing for the Portland Mercado. His background includes completing a Ph.D. from the University of California-Berkeley in Political Science. Over the past 15 years, he has worked directly in culturally specific organizations, including El Program Hispano, the Oregon Council for Hispanic Advancement, and Hacienda Community Development Corporation.

Nathan will join Bienestar in early June, and will work with outgoing Interim Executive Director Karen Shawcross for a smooth transition.

“Nathan was the unanimous choice of Bienestar’s Board of Directors, staff and key stakeholders who participated in his recruitment. He will be a big asset to Bienestar’s future,” comments Board President David Cintron.
