21 Oct Washington County & Bienestar Residents over 80% vaccination rate
At the end of September, Washington County released a Vaccine Equity Update to show the progress of an equitable distribution of the vaccine to the county’s populations. The report shows that the vaccination rate of the county’s Latinx adult residents increased from 49% in May to 59% by September.
Thank you to all the Bienestar residents who have received the vaccine. It is still the best way to help end the pandemic. Our vaccine rate is over 80% and the Bienestar community is safer and stronger for it!
Other highlights of the report:
- Washington County was the first to reach over 80% of adults vaccinated in Oregon
- The county’s vaccination rate in Hispanics/ Latina/o/x adults is nearly six percentage points higher than the state average
- Virginia Garcia, where many Bienestar residents got their shot, distributed over 55,000 vaccines
There is still work to do to close the gap and get more people vaccinated. While Covid-19 cases continue to drop this month, the declines are modest and the recent OHSU forecast predicts that cases and hospitalizations will stay steady into the winter. Let’s all continue to be safe, wear our masks and stay informed.
