News about COVID-19 and the vaccine changes rapidly.

Here are the latest updates on the vaccine:
- If you work in a childcare or K-12 school setting, you are eligible for the vaccine as of January 25. Learn more (English & Spanish)
- If you are in Phase 1A (health care workforce) you are eligible. If you are in phase 1B, you are eligible now (educators and teachers) or will become eligible throughout February. Find out (English & Spanish)
- Educators and teachers eligible as of January 25
- People 80 and older are eligible week of February 7
- People 75 and older are eligible week of February 14
- People 70 and older are eligible week of February 21
- People 65 and older are eligible week of February 28
What We Know About the Vaccine:
- The COVID-19 vaccine does not give you COVID-19.
- Children younger than 16 are not yet eligible for either vaccine.
- Severe allergic reactions to the vaccine are rare. Learn more (Spanish & English)
- Side effects include a few days of muscle aches, chills and headache with potential mild fever after a second dose.
- There is no cost for the vaccine. If providers charge an administration fee, it can be reimbursed.
What we do not know yet:
- Vaccine eligibility dates for essential workers, those younger than 65, those of all ages with underlying health conditions or the general population.
- Experts do not know if the vaccine prevents you from spreading the virus – keep wearing a mask and physically distance.
