2021 has come to a close with news of another Covid-19 surge on the horizon, spurred by the fast-spreading Omicron variant.

While we brace for the next few months of continued restrictions and caution, let’s take a look back at a year that, along with uncertainty and struggle, was full of perseverance, strength and hope. Even in tough times, there are many reasons to reflect and celebrate the good things!

Bienestar got vaccinated!

In the Spring of 2021, 80% of survey participants were vaccinated or on their way. 

Fall vaccination clinics continue the efforts.

• On November 5th, 47 more Bienestar residents became fully vaccinated or boosted. 
• On November 19, 55 more were vaccinated or boosted.

Kids are getting vaccinated, too! At the November 19th clinic, 12 kids under 11 received shots. 

Bienestar residents are seeking the necessary protection and are getting boosters! 

• On November 5^th,  34 of the total vaccinated received a booster vaccine
• On November 19^th, 31 of the total vaccinated received a booster vaccine

Bienestar was in good company this year. Washington County led the way in the state’s vaccination efforts, being one of the first counties in Oregon to vaccinate over 70% of residents. 

There were non-Covid-19 highlights during 2021, too:

Bienestar celebrated its 40th anniversary, with two virtual storytelling events and one in-person party, Una Noche de Bienestar, on December 9th.

These were truly wonderful events, bringing the community together through history and celebration.

Bienestar continued to build partnerships and plans around development projects that are set to begin construction in early 2022, like the Nueva Esperanza in Hillsboro!
