{"id":4317,"date":"2018-03-19T16:17:00","date_gmt":"2018-03-19T23:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bienestar-or.org\/?p=4317"},"modified":"2018-03-19T16:17:00","modified_gmt":"2018-03-19T23:17:00","slug":"dreamers-of-oregon-opens-at-pacific-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bienestar-or.org\/es\/dreamers-of-oregon-opens-at-pacific-university\/","title":{"rendered":"Dreamers of Oregon opens at Pacific University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On March 12, 2018, the community gathered at Pacific University\u2019s Health Sciences campus in Hillsboro (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/190+SE+8th+Ave,+Hillsboro,+OR+97123\/@45.5214928,-122.9790782,17z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x54951aaf5ee37e6b:0xf5ab91df1660bf1e!8m2!3d45.5214928!4d-122.9768895\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">190 SE 8th, Hillsboro OR 97213<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) to celebrate the opening of Dreamers of Oregon: Out of the Shadows.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bienestar-or.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/DACA-March2018-13-of-40.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4318 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bienestar-or.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/DACA-March2018-13-of-40-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In front of stunning portraits taken by Holly Andres, two Dreamers spoke about what it was like to be undocumented, how DACA, although limiting, opened some doors for them, and what it felt like when those doors started to close again. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bienestar-or.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/DACA-March2018-17-of-40.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4319 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bienestar-or.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/DACA-March2018-17-of-40-232x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"232\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Pacific University faculty and students warmly welcomed the exhibit. Dr. Susan Li and Dr. Ann Barr-Gillespie spoke on behalf of Pacific University\u2019s faculty, celebrating Dreamers\u2019 accomplishments and noting the heritage of immigration that generations of Americans share, mentioning that perhaps someday these portraits of the Dreamers might hang in the immigration museum on Ellis Island. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The exhibit will remain at Pacific University\u2019s Hillsboro Campus until March 23. In April, it will move to Pacific University at Forest Grove.
